With cases of the virus increasing health experts are encouraging people to book their booster or third primary dose as soon as they are invited.

Mike Passfield, Clinical Operations Director for the Large Scale Vaccination Centres run by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust said:

“We are pleased to be offering one dose of the vaccine to all 12-15 year olds which will give good protection and help stop the spread of the virus to other people, including within schools.

This week (17-23 October) marks International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) which aims to raise awareness about the importance of Infection Prevention and Control in our homes, communities, and healthcare settings.

The theme of this year’s IIPW is “Make Your Intention Infection Prevention” and the body behind the annual awareness week, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, has developed a range of resources including videos, infographic posters, and interactive quizzes to support both the public and healthcare professionals to understand the science behind Infection Prevention.

Health chiefs are urging people in Norfolk and Waveney to have a flu vaccine to help protect themselves and their families and ease pressure on the NHS this winter.

This winter the risks of both flu and COVID-19 outbreaks are high. This is because fewer people will have built up natural immunity to flu during the COVID-19 pandemic, and protective measures like social distancing and mask wearing have been lifted.
